New work ~ Ampersand 2011

We were recently commisioned by long-time collaborators Clearleft to produce a guidebook for their new conference, Ampersand.

With over 300 delegates we had to create a design that was both premium and usable whilst building a new brand for the conference and it’s continued success in years to come. As the conference was featured in the July issue of creative review it had to be something special.

See what we did here.

We do our bit for Cancer Research

On the 12 September we took part in the local “Crazy knockout” in aid of Cancer Research, in the nearby village of Cheddleton.

Donning our best sports gear (well stuff we didn’t mind getting wet and muddy) and team t-shirts, we took part in various races involving hay bales, wheel barrows, space hoppers and ending with a very wet assault course.

There were 12 teams taking part from various local businesses, and with us the newbies to the field, they all thought they could take us down. Little did they know that we had some of the most competitive team members going and they weren’t going to let us go down without a fight (judging from the bruises and sore limbs the day after they definitely fought!). There were a lot of crossed-fingers hoping the rain would hold, but in the end the weather did us proud as did the team, and we raised over £3,000 in aid of a very worthy cause.

We had a fantastic time, and after coming a very respectable 4th place some of us are already in training for next years event. Especially the competitive amoungst us!

Tim Burton Does MOMA

I love New York, and can’t wait until I can go back there. The style, the culture, the architecture… it’s got it all. I stumbled across this today via SwissMiss on twitter.

I also love Tim Burton. So what better reason to make a return trip to NYC to see one of my favourite Directors’ work at MOMA.

You can read all about the exhibition here.

Right where’s my passport…

Tour of Britain 2009

We’re pretty lucky in where the studio is situated that the Tour of Britain rolls past close by each year. As the weather was pretty nice today, I popped out with the camera to catch the action.

A 3 man breakaway we the first through the village, but as soon as they arrived they were gone. The main peloton flew through around 20 seconds later, followed by the remaining few accompanied by the broom wagon 10 minutes after that.

Pretty exciting for a small village, and judging by the crowds who turned out (along with a class from the local Primary School), another great promotion for British Cycling.

You can see the shots here.

Banksy Vs. Bristol Museum

I’ve been a fan of Banksy for some time, but I know he’s got his critics. This exhibition is running at Bristol Museum until 31st August. I hope I can make it down there to see it.

A long time in the making

Finally it’s here.

We’ve been working hard over the last few years creating great sites for our clients. So as Jack turns two, we’re celebrating with the launch of our own site. Happy Birthday Jack!

It’s the hardest thing to do designing something for yourself, hence the long delay, but finally we decided on something we’re happy with. So with the coding genius of Simon and the wordsmithery of Ant, here it is.

There’s going to be a few additions over the coming weeks, such as the Lomo page, and a few more Jacks. So for now we hope you like what we’ve done, and if you’ve got any comments feel free to drop us a line on the contact page.
